5th October

Dr Ariella Huff - 'From writing about Parliaments to working in one'

Dr Huff wrote her PhD on national parliaments and foreign policy at Cambridge where she was also a post-doctoral fellow working on the OPAL project on parliaments and the EU. She now works in the House of Commons as a senior specialist (adviser) to both the Foreign Affairs and the Exiting the EU Committees, where she can put theory into practice…. Or perhaps not.

 

12th October

Professor Arne Niemann - 'The European refugee crisis and the reform of Frontex: insights from neofunctionalist theorizing'

Professor Niemann is Professor of International Politics at the University of Mainz and is visiting Cambridge as part of the Cambridge-DAAD programme.

 

2nd November

Professor Dr Sven Biscop - 'European defence and the UK: time for a continental strategy?'

Professor Biscop is Director of Europe in the World Programme, Egmont - Royal Institute for International Relations and a Professor at the Ghent Institute for International Studies, Ghent University.

 

9th November

There woll be no European Centre seminar because of the Annual Hinsley Lecture at St John’s College. However, you may be interested in the following EU-related event earlier that afternoon:

At 5pm the Cambridge University Law Society will hold a panel discussion on The UK’s Withdrawal from the EU – Legal and Parliamentary Perspectives with Professor Catherine Barnard, Professor Mark Elliott and Dr Julie Smith.

Gisela Stuart - 'Why leave the EU'

Gisela Stuart is a former Labour MP and was the co-director of the Vote Leave campaign.
