Rt Hon Mark Field MP, Vice-Chairman (International) of the Conservative Party will speak on the Conservatives’ international relations in light of Brexit and Trump

We would like to remind you about the new British Politics seminar series. Leading political figures will give their off-the-record insights into life in British politics. The seminars, which are co-organised by the Department of Politics and International Studies and Robinson College, will run throughout Lent Term 2017 and the intention is that they should become an annual fixture.

The next seminars are:

Friday 3rd March

Lord Lisvane, former Clerk of the House of Commons, will talk about parliamentary practices, including on many of the EU treaties that Parliament has debated over the years. A must for everyone who hopes to understand what MPs and peers are able to do as they seek to influence the Government over Brexit.

Immediately after Lord Lisvane’s seminar at 6pm, Julie will be launching her new book, The UK’s Journeys into and out of the EU: Destinations Unknown (Routledge, 2017). Copies of the book will be available at a discount, speeches will be very short and refreshments will be provided.  For catering purposes, please let Julie know if you wish to attend the launch.

Venue:  Crausaz Wordsworth Building, Robinson College

In addition, Baroness Wheatcroft will be giving the annual Antcliffe Lecture on Thursday 9th March at 5pm in Murray Edwards College. The topic of her Lecture will be 'Politics in the Age of Post-truth'. Please contact the POLIS Department for further details about that event.
